Rens is a personal finance app for iOS. I designed it and I wrote it — Swift, SwiftUI, Xcode, App Store Connect, submission, review and release. Eighty people use it.
Why this is in the portfolio
Because the design-engineer claim needs proof, and this is it. Nobody handed me a spec, nobody built it for me, and Apple’s review process does not accept a Figma file. Everything between the idea and a person downloading it on their phone was mine, including the parts that never make it into a case study: the privacy declarations, the store screenshots, the release cycle, the bug someone reported on a device I do not own.
The design problem
Personal finance apps fail in the same place. They ask for effort up front — categories, budgets, an account connection, a setup wizard — and repay it weeks later, so most people quit on day two. The whole design question is how much you can ask for before the app has earned anything.
Built with
Swift and SwiftUI, following Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, published through App Store Connect.

Lo que enseña publicar solo
Diseñador, desarrollador y mesa de soporte en el mismo producto. Cada decisión tenía un costo que pagaba yo esa misma semana.
What shipping alone teaches you
Working on a product where you are the designer, the developer and the person answering the support email removes a habit: designing things you will not have to build. Every decision here had a cost I paid personally the same week, which is a fast way to learn which details are worth the argument on a team and which ones never were.
